    Default Buying studio and convert it to 1 bedder

    If I buy a fairly big studio apt..can I build a wall to convert it into a 1 bedder? need to seek approval from BCA or any authority?

    Believe it is illegal unless have building mgt and authority approval.
    If done, will there be windows in the bedroom ?Seems difficult.
    Proper one bedder have windows (some full glass windows).

    But mine the studio bedroom got windows just covering up with wall separating the living area with bedroom also illegal? the building mgt will come you house to inspect?

    If it's not to rent out the room, suggest you get a high bookcase or shelf and use it as partition.

    Partition ok but build concrete wall need approval from BCA (iirc).

    need to hijack this thread. What if I were to transform the study into 2 storey walk in wardrobe with enclosed wall, do i still need to get permission? And what is the chance of getting approve?

    BCA approval the submission is ownself do or the reno contractor will do for you?

    Have checked with URA, building an enclosed wall is consider interior renovation. No approval needed. URA Tel: 62234811
