nice view he has got but aren't there grizzly bears out there...
In the final analysis.....its NOT whether you have a diploma, degree, masters OR PHD....its whether you have a HDB/PC/EC or LANDED...
No NTUC or Hawker Center (e.g. curry and laksa) also
got harsh winter also...
and i really mean it.
The winter is BRUTAL over there.
So who pay for the elderly retirement allowancea, medical and transport cost? Drop from sky or grow from tree?
It is ego. Wanting to live in big house and then show off to the world. There are many relatives of mine staying and retiring in their hdb flat and still doing ok and happy.
i supposed a beggar will also tell the world he is not a materialistic person and lead a care-free life and that he choose his lifestyle.
when u are old, u will prefer warm weather
best is multi-home, winter comes back to warmer countries
Ride at your own risk !!!
Before migrating to Canada to join their children, parents-in-law knew about the very harsh winter and cold weather. They thought they could go to Florida during the cold weather and back to Canada when it's warmer. It became too much of a hassle travelling up and down.
I heard they couldn't drive there as they were old and needed to retake driving test. They didn't want to retake the test and ended up feeling immobile and miserable. The public transportation there is different and worse than Spore. Their children were too busy with their own lives to drive them round or even visit them. So after a year and a half of living in Canada, they gave up and returned to Singapore.
When they returned, the property prices in Spore had gone up. They sold their landed before they left and though they returned within a short time, prices had already gone up by three times. They ended up spending their golden years in public housing. What a costly mistake!
if pple migrate to such a nice place i congratulate them... as for whether got ntuc /cinema nearby, the bus pass by every 1 hr or watever... his own puasa la..
Ong lai ah!
My dream home.
People are thinking of retiring abroad without consideration of aging and less mobile. It is better to stay in a hot and humid country than a cold and wet country. Properties in Singapore should not be sold but help to fund their living expenses. Singapore properties are bought to be kept especially FH landed ones.
human mind is like monkey, too stressful complain, too boring also complain
beautiful scenery after a while also becomes "discounted"
Ride at your own risk !!!
At least he died a happy man.

Ya, quite true, last winter HK hv got more than 50 peoples died due to the cold winter and HK is even not that cold, only about 8-10 degree the coldest and yet....many still prefer summer. I got a friend from London first time to HK and Spore and just love Spore, especially the weather, the cityscape and of course no language barrier.

Can get one of this
My former colleague (M'sian) who migrated to Canada (Toronto)25 yrs ago invites me to come to Canada. She loves Canada. She is driving a brand new Lexus costing her < S$50k according to her. She works in the SUN life financial as a advisor (insurance ) earning est C$200k. But have to pay 50% income tax. So net income C$100k. She don't mind the high tax according to her. She invites me to come to Canada for holiday & also see any opportunities for me to work together with her. I am not sure whether I can just find a job there so easily in the financial industry.
I have wanted to visit her for a long holiday. But I don't know whether my youngest son 22 months old can take such a long flight. 25 hours flight ?
Do go to Toronto for a holiday during the summer months and I am sure you'll like it.Toronto is multicultural and you will feel very comfortable there. While you are there, do spend a night at niagara falls as the place is beautifully lit at night.
Toronto is quite a nice place to stay if you can get a job of your choice in the financial industry. Personally I feel many migrants do jobs that are below their skill level and if you can get a good job that is befitting you--GO For IT. I do think very highly of you, that's why I bother to post a reply.
Lifestyle is different as you have to do chores and it helps if you are handy and can DIY repairs. Outdoor chores like mowing grass in the summer months and shoveling snow in winter months can be very backbreaking.
Once you decide to migrate to Toronto, don't look back or you and your family would be miserable.
There is really no perfect country on earth and every place has its pros and cons. You need to know your preferences and priorities in life as no country can meet all your expectations.
I know of people who migrated and became disappointed. They moved again to another country and then to another country and still couldn't find what they were looking for. This lack of stability took a toll on the children . They grew up to be depressed, angry and maladjusted youths.
I think children are better travelers than adults and many babies younger than 22 months have traveled from Spore to Toronto. I had travelled with my mischievious 4 year old son to Europe and Toronto many years ago --just the two of us.
