    Oxley holdings purchased a property located at 231 Pasir Panjang Road for $121’M. It will be redeveloped as The Verandah Residences. This freehold development would have a design of Black & White Concept. The project will comprise 170 units, with choice units from 1 BR to 4 BR.

    It is about 550m to Haw Par Villa MRT, convenient to get to Mapletree Business City, Science Park, NUS, NUH and One-North sub-regional centre. Future developments would include the completion of Stage 6 of the Circle Line to Marina Bay and the Southern Waterfront City.

    The Verandah Residences @ Pasir Panjang

    Pasir Panjang is a malay word, literally means “long sand”, a reference to the long sandy beach that stretches along the coastline in this area. It’s also known as Hong Hen Sua in Hokkien, meaning “Hong Heng’s Plantation”

    In 1910, Government took over the opium industry and a state-owned factory was established at Pasir Panjang. Many wealthy Chinese built holiday and residential bungalows along the coast, some of which are still visible today in the area.

    Since the late 1960, the whole length of the coast from the Singapore River to Jurong has been reclaimed for wharves, almost entirely devoted to containerisation. The coastal area at Pasir Panjang has been extensively reclaimed for the Pasir Panjang Terminal of the Port of Singapore.

    Default The Verandah Residences - Inspired by Black and White Bungalows

    Black and white bungalows are white-painted bungalows, in a style once commonly used to house European colonial and expatriate families in the tropical climate colonies. The term “black and white” refers to the dark timber beams and whitewashed walls usually found on this buildings.

    Bungalows such as these were built from the 19th century until World War II for the wealthy expatriate families.
    In the present day, large numbers of these have been demolished due to he need for space for modern development. There are only around 500 of these houses remain in Singapore, many of these are owned by the Government.
