Xi promises China will buy US$40 trillion worth of imports in next 15 years as part of opening up.

    • Xi says China has made long-term commitment to buy US$30 trillion worth of goods and US$10 trillion worth of services in next 15 years
    • Xi backs globalisation and attacks unilateralism, but he does not single out US or Donald Trump

What choice does he have when domestic consumption, manufacturing-exports dropping along with low birth rates and fast aging population. The only way out of US trade war rut is to signal to everyone else about purchases and make something out of it to be re-exported. We will see more China brands being more mainstream along the likes of Huawei and Oppo. As they move up the supply chain into higher value output such as robotics, block-chain tech, green tech etc their rivals will be more from the first world than ever.
