developer said can double glazed is only waste of money as can also reduce 32 dB. original glass is 31dB. so glass curtain will be the better effective option.

a house's normal dB should be about 40-50 range. (bullshit from lta that 70dB is acceptable. ) even facing landed area is about this range. can wake up by maids talking and footstep above
I understand that unlike a balcony, the "planter" may have weight-bearing restrictions. Thus, if one covers it up and puts chairs and other heavy objects, would it pose overloading problems?Originally Posted by darkseed73

Personally, I don't think you have a very strong case here and when you talk about acceptable specifications, you need to justify it by quoting from credible sources (i.e. ministries like NEA, BCA, etc). Words like 'should be', 'about' are vague and do not hold any water. Well, unless you can further prove that the road noise has affected your mental health over a period of time which then again, will need to be certified by a specialist. Then, MAYBE (maybe only) you have a case.Originally Posted by Komo
Few suggestions:
1) Thick curtains with sound absorption properties, almost similar to those you see in the cinemas for the bedrooms. Not cheap (but cheaper than double glazed windows)
2) Increase the white noise within the room (i.e. from fans). Need to do some research.
3) Cheapest option. EARPLUGS.
Sunny88: Planters are usually only a small portion of the balcony. And planters are already meant to put "Pots' of plants with soil" thus i don't think your balcony is going to collapse in normal "usage".Originally Posted by sunny88
I have never seen a planter of balcony size.....usually either a strip or just a part of the balcony...... therefore....the worry should be minimum.

2) I bought a noisy air ionizer at Novena Sq 2 - those with aromatheraphy. Sleep with fan thru out the whole night yet closed all windows - u will have headache in the morning. Better with aircon
3) Yes, quite effective, but you will feel unconfortable. Over time may get used to it, some may not
Unless the glass curtain is approved, I reckon there's not much you can do to alleviate the noise in the living room. The thick curtains was suggested for the bedrooms where minimal disturbances is required in order to have a good sleep. Do note that acoustic dampening curtains aren't available in the usual curtain shops.Originally Posted by gosperence

Hi Estuarians
I saw this review posted by someone at the property guru saying that Estuary condo worth only at maximum $800 psf not more than that. What u guys think about his review? Is it really that bad
Personally I feel that the noise isn't that bad during the day and it's really ok during sleeping time too
i really wish to have a bathtub. but i search everywhere, there is no such small size bathtub that can fit my shower area of 110x90 cm. the smallest bathtub i can find is 120x70cm.
i wonder, is it ok to knock down 10cm of the bay window of the shower area ?
I thought beneath bay window is empty direct to external structure? This is GFA related exploitation by developer. Some area you cannot knock down, may affect structural stability. Pls check the drawing in your handbook. If allowable, you can do so.Originally Posted by uzone
Put bathtub at balcony if high floor facing reservior. Enjoy the scene + traffic noise while soaking....
Anyone know when Fibre broadband network will be available in Estuary? Been living without Wi-Fi for a while...
I thought new buildings will have Fibre?Originally Posted by AntZZZZ

Hi all, I'm curious to know if anyone had installed a latch on the main door? I kinda don't feel very secure sleeping at night especially when I think that anyone who has the door key can open it unless the door is latched from inside the unit.
Update on the traffic noise issue. Email to NEA was referred to LTA. LTA says they will investigate the issue. I doubt much will come out of it so it all boils down to whether the estuarians community will vote to approve the installation of glass panels when the MCST is formed.

If approve, will it be the 1st in Singapore?
OT.
Estuary has become the demarcation for Yishun with the introduction of Blue neon lights....
Just emailed the Mgt Office and they forwarded me Opennet's reply. So Opennet is scheduled to come down and do the installation. The exact date is still to be determined.

when fiber is ready, for those who already subscribe to ADSL or cable, you can actually "upgrade" your service to fiber. do look at your ISP terms and condition. For singtel ADSL, you have to subscribe minimum 6 mths before you can upgrade.
what plan are you having now? OT a bit....any caught in the BPL story btw the GREEN vs RED? I am still thinking which to go for OR forth go????Originally Posted by lovehard

Dear Estuarians,
Has anyone here experiencing poor network signal within your premises?
Since yesterday, I've difficulties trying to call out and call in from others when I'm at home.

I'm staying at level above the basement. Same goes to me since day 1 I moved in as I didn't encounter such problem, the mobile network signal is good within my premises. But it seems that since yesterday, the low or no mobile network signal issue starts. I cannot call out or call in to me, but when I walk out the premises along the common corridor to make calls, it's ok!Originally Posted by WhoAmI?
i have a few dead spot in my unit, nothing much we can do complain to singtel and hope they add or adjust their base antena Maybe you can raise out to managment if it is really bad. more signal base unit might helpsOriginally Posted by ESTUARY GUNDU
is this service provider dependent or all the 3 telcos has problem? I am using ST now and will be moving to SH soon. Stay 11th floor.Originally Posted by lovehard
mine are scratches on timber flooring. they have re-polish it.Originally Posted by Komo
It telco dependent, changing to SH may or may not solve your problem, you won't SH dont have this problem too. I think you should raise this to managment agent, if really your unit have very weak mobile signal, most likley those unit above and below your unit will not fair much betterOriginally Posted by streamium70
they polished or more appropriately sand off the scratches of the timber but instead end up with rough patches all over. varnish also no use. refused to change floor tiles almost change until all new. chipped cracked scratches uneven anything you can think ofOriginally Posted by streamium70
