I bought the neighbouring unit in 2006 and it made me 100k one year later.

So i have fond memories of the place. And the caretaker is one of a kind, in a nice way of course.

Hmm are you referring to Mountbatten Suites? I don't remember this development (Mountbatten Lodge) having basement units.

I believe it is worth if you have the holding power, be it for own stay or investment. Any property in Singapore tend to appreciate in value over long term in line with inflation and other factors..............

If rent out should have profit a tidy sum even though they bought in 1996/1997.

I believe its worth it too. Still well under 2000 dollar psqrft and freehold. The demographic also support for MM living. With monthly repayment around 1K a month its light on the pocket too

Rental for mountbatten lodge is not high. 320sqft unit is about $2000 to $2350 from squarefeet website. Check the maintenance fee u need to pay monthly and whether the unit leaking badly.

Long term means 10 years or more for me. You must factor in cost of rental generated or opportunity cost if for own stay. That's why garmen provide 90% home ownership (99 LH) and all eligible residents grap the rare opportunities that may not be available in some other countries .....

1700 pfs for such an old unit...I wouldn't bother.

At this price and the current market you may not even profit much if there is an en-bloc sale sometimes in the future. Furthermore with this age, the en-bloc could be a done deal within the next four years, which means that you will have to pay SSD.
