a friend is now faced with the following issue

he owns a private condo ...
his current girlfriend, a divorcee, has a HDB from her ex husband..

they aer planning to register and get married ..

to their surprise .. HDB said ,,when they get registered,,,she has to include him in the HDB ... as co owner /occupier ..

even though she has the HDB for many years .. she solely own it only last yr

and as far as HDB is concerned , it would mean that my friend would now own a HDB (less than 5 yrs) and he HAS TO SELL HIS PRIVATE CONDO ..

is that right ??

what she has before does not concern him does it ?

1) he has to sell
2) HDB is for family units. So he don't want, can consider either selling the HDB, or he can consider marrying later when there is a change in rules.
3) try appealing but wait for results before marrying. If appeal fail, then consider either 1) or 2).

The girl will just have to register the HDB with her parents.

Get married through any traditional wedding and live together, but don't go ROM to register, problem solved. :D

Why remarry... Likely to break and divide assets. Go marry in other country not recognized in Singapore for peace of mind.

good advice, but parents mustn't have their own hdb first too. If not, she can't use her parents.

give up the private property, get married and buy back after MOP. In this case, what is the MOP period?

wife MOP over and husband start serving the MOP?

Or put the private property under the wife's name?

Maybe possible wor..
