If a person bought a condo under his parent's name as he currently holds a hdb and still within mop, what happens when the parent passed on before mop is up? Assuming there is a will which stipulates the condo as a bequest to this fellow, does he needs to pay stamp duty to take over the condo?

Also, since his hdb mop is not up, can he take ownership of both hdb and condo?

should not be a problem on inheriting the condo from his/her parents.

estate duty was already lifted. But subjected to changes again.

I read somewhere that condo has to be sold but given some time to do it.

I thought have to sell away HDB if it is inherited and do not satisfy the requirement.

I've read that private property owners inheriting a HDB flat can keep both units if MOP is met. I suspect that HDB flat owners can definitely inherit private property but must continue to stay in HDB if MOP is not met. Its rather ruthless to demand that the inheritance be sold because of some rules. It may have sentimental values. If got problem, can always write to HDB who will always assess the situation case by case. Special provisions may be given... :cheers1:

This is an appeal case. See MP for help. Etc.
If law by law, I think gotta sell condo.
