View Full Version : Treasure Trove Punggol exceptionally CHEAP?

Units at A Treasure Trove were sold at an average of $866 psf during its launch last September while Watertown's initial sales in January were transacted at an average of about $1,080 psf.
Not only so, 18 Volkswagen cars have been put up for grabs which is an exceptionally large amount. This can then help the buyers lower cost significantly.
It seems that the developer for this project is trying to prove a statement, this may lead to a chain of retaliation from other developers which may end up reducing prices of property in Singapore?

If they can offer 18 cars, means other developers should sell Punggol units for even lower prices!

Yep but i guess this is just a non-price measure to increase competitiveness.
For example, a restaurant does not decrease price but instead provide complementary drinks or wad ever.
Same concept.
I feel that this is a good start

For those who have some intention to buy and still not sure, they will still fall into such gimmick.

I mean firstly the price is significantly cheaper 850 vs 1k psf
secondly the car is not cheap by itself $75k and the probability of winning it is
> 5%. why not?

There are 3 types of buyers
1. Totally interested ones even with or without prize.
2. Uncertain buyers.
3. Totally not interested ones.
If prize or lucky draw is a VW, it gives type 2 buyers another reason/excuses to commit the property. Think developer targeting the type 2 buyers.

firstly, it's gimmicky.
secondly, as a purchaser, what happens if i fail to win and see my neighbour beaming in glee for being the lucky one instead? pissed off, period
thirdly, 10 cars = $750,000. can that sum of money be utilized in a better way? e.g. direct discount to the listed price, furniture vouchers, etc. spread the goodness all around to leave a better taste in everyone's mouth

Nowadays I don't even bother to fill up the contest form but throw away the piece of paper as I feel my info would be given to a 3rd party.
Anyway all these years, I have never won anything that is not due to hard work.

Yes. Just like many people buy insurance products to get free ipad...

If you earn money from your investments, do you consider that "not due to hard work"?
If I had not committed to a condo already, I will buy this project because of the following reasons:
1. I like the estate
2. I have intention to upgrade to a condo anyway
3. If I win, I will sell the car as I don't have a driving license; hence the COE is immaterial
The lure of the prize just adds to #1 and #2

Can use home loan to finance a car haha... sure got a lot of people buy...

I think what he ment was that he would not mind slightly higher price of the house, given that they include the Car with COE

This is an idea worth considering! Spread out your car loan over 30 years, with super low interest rate, unlike car loans!
I would definitely consider it as its one loan for two biggest item in your life... although it will make singaporeans more highly leverage and more singaporeans over stretching

fantastic idea! Effective interest rate at under 1.5%. There'll be definitely more BMs on the road!
COE will cheong pass 100k though...
Loan - Furni voucher must deduct fm selling price, if car+coe also must deduct right?
silly-poreans so desperate for property ownership...any form of free gift will work....i think developers NEVER had it so good...:)
