Came across a news from HK: a couple put in sgd80k for down payment to purchase a flat in hk. The down payment was forfeited as the buyers couldn't secure a mortgage from any banks. Reason for banks' refusal is the unit being on the same floor as another unit whose owner committed suicide there. In fact, all units on that floor are unlikely to have mortgage approved.

Many questions in my mind but the most important questions are:
1) can this happen in Singapore?do flats with tragedies have such a massive impact such that even banks will refuse mortgage?
2) are agents in Singapore legally obliged to disclose such information (e.g. Neighbour unit has tragedies)?
3) how can buyers find about those flats with tragedies on their own without spending days digging through ST archives?

I notice there is almost no threads on this topic. Apologies if this is offensive or too sensitive.
