LOCAL firm SCDA Architects has clinched three out of 33 Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Awards. The Chicago Athenaeum is the only museum of architecture and design in the US. SCDA Architects, led by Chan Soo Khian, is best known in Singapore for designing high-end residential developments like The Ladyhill and The Boulevard Residences. It won for three overseas projects - the House for the Four Seasons in New York, The Columbarium in Guangzhou and a Heeren Street shophouse in Malacca.

The House for the Four Seasons in New York
Two other Singapore architects - WOHA Designs and Bedmar & Shi Designers - also helped raise the profile of the industry here by receiving honours. Their success will go some way towards putting Singapore firms in the same league as other big-name architects to make the Chicago Atheneum cut, like Japan's Kisho Kurokawa Architects + Associates.
