(SINGAPORE) Even before its project completion date, Clementi Mall is 100 per cent leased, and boasts the re-entry of American ice cream icon Baskin Robbins into the Singapore market.

Hong Kong fashion label Samuel and Kevin will also be establishing its first outlet in the western part of Singapore, after exiting Singapore in early 2009.

Upmarket shops that are located at the downtown shopping belt are also using this platform to mark their first forays into the suburbs.

Ootoya, a Japanese restaurant that first made its debut at Orchard Central, is located on the third floor of Clementi Mall.

Paper Market, a stationery store that stocks up on paper-crafting materials, scrapbooking brands, and luxury stationery planted its third outlet, and first outside the downtown shopping belt, on the fourth floor.

This is in line with the mall's positioning of 'contemporary' and 'mid-market', catering to the families, executives, and students living in the Clementi, Holland Village, and even Bukit Timah area.

Anchor tenant FairPrice Finest is also pulling a first - self-checkout counters for its chain of grocery stores.

Clementi Mall, located at the junction of Commonwealth Avenue West and Clementi Avenue 3, is the first mixed-use development, integrating housing board flats with a shopping mall. While the mall occupies the first seven storeys, storeys 8-40 are a mix of 3-room and 4-room flats. The two residential blocks above the mall will have 388 flats.

Food and beverage stores constitute about 26 per cent of the tenant mix. While unable to comment on rental figures, the mall's management said that rental is comparable with other suburban malls that are connected to a MRT station.

It is estimated that the mall would experience traffic flow of some 50,000 patrons daily.

Clementi Mall will officially open on May 21.
