Anyone know if it is really safe to travel to Japan now?
Plan to go Tokyo. But still don't know actually safe to visit.
Official words are they are safe. But unofficially?
Any suggestion?

I understand half-live of radioactive particles are very loooonnnnng. So they should still be contaminating the water, food and air that sustain (also affect) you while you are in Japan.Originally Posted by marc2050
I guess a short holiday of 1 week should be alright. Not like you are going to stay there for 1 month or more. If really that bad all the people in Tokyo will already have become zombies from resident evil already haa haa....
I went Osaka for holiday in May right after the disaster because everything was so cheap haa haa....
was in tokyo 3x after the incident, lesser tourist. I avoid buying local snacks originated from the northern area although 20% discounts, local beers too.
going to sapporo this year end..any nice place to recommend?
Some radioactive particles were found in some mountains in Europe few months ago. What do you think?
There was an article in the earlier half of the year saying that Singapore has higher radiation than Tokyo as we are situated nearer the equator, and hence nearer the sun.Originally Posted by DC33_2008

"The radioactivity of nuclear waste diminishes with time. That means the waste needs to be isolated from the reach of living beings until it no longer pose a threat to living beings. This time period may take from days to months and to years depending upon the radioactive nature of the waste"

Have tried both outdoor and indoor onsen. Prefer outdoor onsen more as it is closer to nature.
