Default New BTO flats are getting cheaper???

    HDB launches 5 BTO projects

    11:21 AM Jan 11, 2012
SINGAPORE - The Housing and Development Board (HDB) launched five new Build-To-Order (BTO) projects on Wednesday, offering 3,923 new flats in Choa Chu Kang, Punggol, Sengkang and Tampines.

This is the first BTO launch of 2012.

In total, HDB plans to offer 25,000 BTO units for the entire year.

HDB says at least 95 per cent of the flat supply (excluding Studio Apartments) will be set aside for first-timer households.

Eligible first-timer households can also enjoy various housing grants to help them own a new BTO flat.

The projects are Fernvale Lea in Sengkang, Sunshine Gardens in Choa Chu Kang, Tampines Alcoves and Tampines GreenTerrace in Tampines, and Waterway Sunbeam in Punggol.

The selling prices excluding grants for units at Fernvale Lea range from S$83,000 for a 2-room unit to S$283,000 for a 5-room unit.

For Sunshine Gardens, the price range is from S$77,000 for Studio Apartments to S$295,000 for a 5-room unit.

For units at Tampines Alcoves and Tampines GreenTerrace, the price range is from S$86,000 for Studio Apartments to S$292,000 for a 4-room unit.

    And at Waterway Sunbeam, it's S$152,000 for a 3-room unit to S$340,000 for a 5-room unit.

    These prices are excluding grants.

HDB says the next BTO launch will be in March and it will be offering about 4,110 new flats for sale in Bedok, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Clementi, Geylang and Toa Payoh.

More information is available on the HDB InfoWEB.

Applications and Enquiries for today's BTO launch can be submitted online from Jan 11 to Jan 17.

Interesting to note that the 5 room in punggol cost about $60k more than the 5 room in Seng Kang.... maybe fernvale area is more ulu but still the price tag is so different. Maybe punggol units are larger?

Do we know the floor area of these new BTO? The HDB flats have been shrinking in size over time. My old 4-room has similar floor area to a new 5-room.

HDB need to be reminded again and again to practise "transparency". What are the sizes of flats?
However, this round, HDB BTO flats prices look more decent though considering those location...

2 beds in sengkang cost $83k only? Why spend 8-10 times more for condo in the same area? Doesn't make sense

This is to cater for low income group of course affordable. Those complaining are not eligible or have not been selected for BTO several times. My cousin tried 3 times BTO till she exceeded the income limit so no choice have to get resale. These are the group that the group complaining.

That is why I keep saying, have to target CM for resale flats prices, and those PRs & citizens hogging resale flats for renting out while they are not in Singapore or living in private properties!
Why till now still no cooling measure for resale flats? And they go and blame the foreigners?

Cos they are afraid to kill the home equity of the many to cater for new homes for the few, so they probably trying a more middle ground approach.

Simple explanation: You hit citizen you pay a political price, you hit foreigner the political price is zero to positive.

You ain't see the economic price yet, which will be >10x more! Within 3 years, the citizens will cry-father cry-mother because of the economic price paid for short-sighted rules?
