URA gives nod to slew of projects

A SLEW of residential, commercial and industrial projects received provisional permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in the fourth quarter of last year.

Hong Fok Corporation's unit Yat Yuen Hong received provisional permission to build a 670-room hotel on Orchard Road. The mainboard-listed group owns International Building on Orchard Road.

Westgate, a joint venture between CapitaMalls Asia, CapitaMall Trust and CapitaLand, also got the go-ahead for its mixed development at Jurong Gateway, which comprises 35,590 square metres (sq m) of office space and 34,700 sq m of retail space.

Residential projects that received URA's provisional permission in October-December last year include a 532-unit condominium of Publique Realty - controlled by Capital Development and ZACD Investments - at Punggol Field, and Fraser Centrepoint's Palm Isles at Flora Drive, a seven-storey development with 429 units.

Tuan Sing unit Asplenium Land received approval to develop 276 units for Seletar Park Residences. Keppel Bay got the green light to build a 367-unit condominium at Keppel Bay Drive.

Hoi Hup Realty received approval to build 58 semi-detached and four terrace houses at Whitley Road.

URA also gave the nod in Q4 2011 for the development of 20,410 sq m of business park space in two new projects - to Rohde and Schwarz Property to develop a 12,520-sq-m facility at Changi Business Park Vista; and to A-Reit's 7,890-sq-m project at Nepal Park.

Provisional permission for multiple-user factories was also granted for projects at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2, Jalan Pemimpin and Kaki Bukit Road 4. NSS Properties got approval for a 51,920-sq-m development at Kaki Bukit Road 4.

Developers of nine single-user factories obtained URA's go-ahead in the fourth quarter, including ST Electronics' 50,000-sq-m factory at Ang Mo Kio Street 65, Google Asia Pacific's 38,930-sq-m factory at Jurong West Ave 2 and Super Continental's 24,840-sq-m factory at Tuas West Drive.

Oxley Vista was granted provisional permission for The Commerze@ Irving, its 8,380-sq-m industrial space, including 3,350 sq m of retail space.
