Traffic in charlton park will increase a lot once the road open. As this will be a short cut to avoid all the traffic lights for those who want to go to town from defu or lor ah soo area.

I think you are right. It might not be so ideal for the private familiar.

But i think the tenants and residents are prepared for traffic as it is a mixed development to begin with. I doubt it will be heavy traffic though. The lane is likely to be one lane both ways at max. Surrounded by other major and arterial roads that most people are familiar with. If through to city from Defu have to zig zag at many junctions plus the chance of jam in mostly single lanes.

This strategy of inroads to bypass arterial roads has been noted at many places in SG to alleviate the congestion.

Will be interesting to find out how it goes eventually.

Wonder why they did not Put the location of cross island line stations which will be at defu. If they were to move 500m to come closer to lor ah soo market, then promenade will be really good. The current location of the proposed station is so near to kovan and hougang, served no value to mass lot.

URA has a dozen other considerations to take note of. They are not expected to bend over and backwards just for any group. One consideration is perhaps the land available and suitable for the alignment of the tracks.

Nonetheless, I believe there might still be surprises down the road.

If only I can permanently reside in the northeast... Sigh...

At the northern tip of defu where tampines road is there is a blue mixed development plot in the draft master plan. Guess that could mark the spot where the station would be.

As a residential owner i feel this takes away the exclusivity of the estate.
It will be a lot less private.

I guess there will be under pass connecting to nearer to lor ah soo, which means actually promenade has 2 mrt stations within 10 mins walk. For a freehold property at average 1k Psf. Nothing to complain

What is going to happen to the park? It's already very small.

That bad. I suppose "sheng xiong" is planning to buy those units at first. So now all the commercial unit that is suppose to be sheng xiong is all sold to individual buyers. Any commercial owner wana share what the shop will be use for? What the business they are operating Etc?

Yes but it can be faster because it is a relatively quiet area with not much traffic and the land is not that big.

I drove there a few time..

Seem alway very quiet, as if the construction is put to a halt. Very few workers too at the site.
