My friends also bring me to the 9th, 10th and 11th floor of a shopping center at Causeway Bay. Lots of restaurants there. Price tag HKD 1k++ per person. (It's best if one has a company expense account for that).

I'll just tell you the things that you cannot find in singapore or tastes better. Try 魚皮餃。if you like foochow fishballs you will like this, similar taste. anywhere with wanton noodles should have it. 墨丸 also different from Singapore's. 麥奀記 near central market should serve good wanton noodles. For noodles try 南記 franchise, their 春卷 is nice.
For drinks try the Nestlé 雪梨茶。
If you like Japanese 懷石料理 sushi try Hip Sushi at Shatin New Town Plaza basement。A notch better than Hi Sushi from Taiwan.

definitely, one plate of sashimi is under $10, and you get a generous serving. set meals don't even cost more than $16 there.

Most of the things we have here they also have.

If your friend likes spicy stuff, then maybe some of the freshly prepared bottled sambal belachan, bottled sambal ikan bilis or the pineapple tarts can be given.
Or you can give them a crystal merlion.

If they have small kids, then you can buy a comfort taxi toy car or sbs bus model.

Or just buy some general gifts eg tonic stuff bird nest, xue ha, etc over there and give them.

Whatever you give, just don't give a clock if the host family is chinese.

Just bring then go makan. I think hawker centers like Alexandra Village will be a good choice, chicken rice, avocado juice, satay etc. Bring them to Wisma Atria to try the 泰豐福建蝦麵, they will like it.

Maria's Bakery...Try their 天下第一流沙奶皇包。bread on the outside QQ 湯圓in the middle and then watery 奶皇inside.

If you pass by 恆香老婆餅 @ Wanchai, can try their 皮蛋酥。
You can also walk in the Maxim's and try their 一哥豬扒飯。

    Not really.
I don't really buy much things abroad as I believe in spending in one's own country .
I will only buy certain things which are cheaper there than in Singapore.
