MND, BCA and AVA have all confirmed moving there. That might have trigger capitaland to make the decision to move next door. And whos knows, many other developers might start to bid for commercial site around JLD, so that they can get closer to "GOD"Originally Posted by hyenergix

I have heard about this jurong project for at least 2 years already.
Have they started?
I think at least 7-10 years to see significant changes regardless.

This is not lakeside right?
Anything started on lakeside for the project?
Government is in the process of empty out the land over at lakeside. Most of the tenants around Japanese garden road have already left and the last one standing is Fairway Club, which will be gone soon. The entire block of land around the lakeside area is huge.Originally Posted by jacelynchia
Which word(s) said theme park?Originally Posted by Ringo33
When they mention edutainment theme or nature-based attractions it is understood that they are referring to some sort of theme park or similar offering.Originally Posted by DC33_2008
I hope you are not thinking about getting into a pointless debate about the difference between theme attraction vs a theme park.
In the RFP for Sentosa IR, government never used the word theme park either, but we did get a theme park for Sentosa.
Singapore, 28 April 2006 - The Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Integrated Resort (IR) on Sentosa was launched today and will close on 10 October 2006. All qualified proposers from the earlier Request for Concepts (RFC) (including those invited to participate in the RFP for the IR at Marina Bay) are eligible to participate in the RFP for the IR on Sentosa.
The IR on Sentosa
2. The IR on Sentosa is envisaged to be a large-scale iconic development and a “must-visit” attraction for visitors. It will be a world-class tropical resort that offers the whole family a fun and memorable leisure experience. It will broaden Singapore’s tourism and entertainment options, complement existing tourist attractions as well as catalyse new tourism investments.
3. The IR on Sentosa will occupy a 49-hectare site, and yield up to 343,000 sqm in gross floor area. Leveraging on its location in the resort setting of Sentosa, the IR could have an enthralling mix of island resort recreational and entertainment facilities. Other amenities and facilities within the IR could include resort hotels, spas, dining and retail outlets, corporate meeting facilities, incentive travel venues as well as a casino.
4. The IR should enhance and complement existing products on Sentosa and contribute to the buzz and vibrancy of upcoming activities and attractions there. The key RFP specifications for the IR on Sentosa are in Annex A.

Ringo, I think you maybe reading too much into that.. very similar words were used for Gardens by the Bay East development, and its not going to have a theme park... so I do not think that necessarily points to a theme park development .. and even less so a casino (edutainment and casino dont go hand in hand unless erm gahmen wants to teach people how to gamble?)Originally Posted by Ringo33

Themed Building
An applied research and edutainment centre that will tell the story of water in nature, and teach in a creative and interactive manner the symbiotic relationship between plants, animals and water in an aquatic ecosystem."
Similar word used in a different context does have very different meaning and worst if you try to paraphrase it.Originally Posted by gwlip
And obviously you have choose to omit the words that comes before and after the words THEMED BUILDING. to make it sound like it could easily be mistaken GYTB documents as theme park.
If you want to paraphrase, why not simply pick letters from different words in the document to form the sentence
D-O-N-T-R-E-A-D-T-O-O M-U-C-H-R-I-N-G-O
Perhaps a little more reading could help
