I also think so, but I cant stand the dirty grouting after 1-2 years.

Use granite or marble, paper-thickness gap, no dirty grouting that will also drop out after some time....

You are actually right. It is a bit wasteful. The developer refused to not lay the homogeneous tiles and let me install my marble tiles. Maybe I hold back first. Stay for 10 years then have major reno.

Newer generation of homo tiles is not like before. Designs are more modern and some are bigger tiles with less grouting. Since the developer will not change from their plan, see how it looks after it's completed. You may be pleasantly surprised. I agree that they are easy maintenance.

U may want to consider to treat the marble with sealant first..
Acidic and alkaline fluids are the worst , any of these will stain it as almost instantly, that why better to treat with sealant first..

Now most of the marble slab are joint very cf closely , so the gap are not obverse..
Very wasteful to hack off brand new...

Given the number of hours you are at home when you have a full time job coupled with the amount of furniture you are going to stack over that space. You won't have a lot of time to notice and appreciate the difference. Most important thing is to live comfortably.
