This is happening everywhere in BUC projects in Singapore.

The work can only commence within a window everyday. There are also certain restrictions to the kind of work that can happen near the end of the day.

Well. Over the past weekend, still hear those heavy drills and hammerings.

I think residents at Casa Merah should join force to complain about it. They should be careful not to do such heavy drillings over the weekend.

Default Land Parcel near Tanah Merah MRT

Also just saw there is now a big board at the vacant land parcel next to the MRT entrance. URA now open it for bids but for Residential.

Remember previously I checked out 08 Master Plan, and that piece of land should be for shopping center, why it changed to residential now?

Given all the Condo and private houses nearby, we need a shopping center like the one in Simei or Tampines. Why keep crowding up the place with residential developments? That piece of land is over 12k square meters, which means another big developments with several more hundreds of families, and will make Tanah Merah juncture more crowded, which is crowded already as the transit hub for the MRT to airport.

Any suggestions as to if there is a standard for shopping centers when population density hits some level?

Can we plead to URA to make it a shopping center? Would be lovely if we have something like the City Square Shopping Mall there, for some foods and shopping options at our door step.

Sorry but I guess you have to accept the current state of affairs. A shopping centre there is just not viable.

More condos for that area is good for more people.

After they fenced up the residential plot, the center supposingly commercial plot is so tiny, maybe got space for a coffee shop only.. With major commercial center coming up in bedok I suspect they might just not go ahead to reserve that for commercial and hence explains the plot puny size.

I suspect it will be a commercial cum residential like i.e lower level shops
and residential upstairs, like the Icon. There will likely launch the commercial/ retail development after Optima and the new reserve site are up so that there is enough surrounding crowd traffic including existing residents from Casa Merah and East Meadows.

Critical mass and prices of property will be factors URA will watch out before releasing the middle plot for residential/commerical purpose. Looking at the situation and economy, 2 more years will see a juvenation of TM

    hi all CM occupiers,
not sure if you have the same problems as me - i feel that the sound-proofing quality of the units are not very good. everyday whenever i am home, i can feel a lot of thumping sounds coming from the above unit, like those with very heavy footsteps.

i have tried going upstairs to let them know, but i also feel paiseh cos they have kids and it's tough when you have the lil ones running around. anyone has the same problam and any solutions to this (like...sound-proofing the ceiling? )

I got neighbors from downstairs coming up my unit to ask if I hear any knocking sound. So i guess it is not really your unit only.

Could be due to the waterpipe knocking so you may want to have that checked since the place is still under DLP. It was explained by HDB a few years back when residents complained of marbles etc dropping on the floor above their flats, but HDB checked and replied that its due to waterpipes knocking.

Not sure if that had been rectififed at Bishan, but don't here that sound of "marbles dropping" since about 2 years back.

"marbles dropping" is different from "waterpipe knocking". The former I heard is due to the concrete structure and cannot be rectified unless you tear down and rebuilt with better quality materials. What is the reason for causing the latter?
