i think base on the latest land use plan, this location makes sense since they reclaiming and developing the coast.
siglap hdb site seems less potential w many landed houses around.
I thought this site is for residential purposes!!

I am still of the opinion that the Siglap Station will be sited at the HDB blocks.

Otherwise, why would the government SERs these blocks? It only makes sense only if they can build high blocks to accommodate more flats, in other words to increase plot ratio in the 2013 Masterplan.

We shall see.....anyway whatever is being written/reported here are mere heresays... the truth will be out soon..

    My worth..

Looking forward to the announcement too. Wonder whether the completion will be delayed a little though, with the first few stations opening by the scheduled 2020 completion, and the rest opening over the next two years. That's what's happening with the TSL. Initially scheduled to be opened by 2018, but now pushed back to 2019, with some stations opening as late as 2021.

Construction needs to be spread out, so as not to overload the industry (and cause increases in construction prices due to greater demand on existing capacity). This might cause our ERL to be delayed, so that construction does not coincide with the ongoing building boom.

i guess if there is a possibility that a mrt station or station entrance at the site, the tenders shd be notified during tender?

I saw spotted soil testing or some works along ecp, just after marine parade exit on the small triangular grass area. Flood light was also turn on with some bagala around it. Any one nearby can go and see now.

I was reading this thread & the other in skyscraper city.
Having stations so close to ECP does not make sense. Sad if it comes true.

This means more people commuting further via feed bus to catch a train.
And I thought one key parameter is to get as much people within 5-10 min distance to stations.

    Regards

Looks like the HDB opposite Siglap Centre is no longer in the running for a MRT Station by the looks of things..

Then why SERS those blocks???? Mixed development in the making???

Little India & Farrer park do serves residential areas all around all directions... also for tourism ...

Did the master plan allow for more land exclamation along ECP?
Sacrifice east coast park for homes?

But we want the money from the land sales to fund future healthcare subsidies.

bro, any reclamation efforts will take place after 2030. and there are no plans or suggestions what the land will be used for. add 10 years for reclamation to complete and another couple of years for the soil to settle and stabilize. we are potentially looking at 2045 and beyond, before any concrete stuff materialize.

by then, we may not be around to witness the change.

    Eastern coast line in 2020
... but i believe east park area / reclamation / development will be beyond 2050...
For next 20 years, it's all about making a better park / beach recreation area

So ECL needs to be located further north of current speculated location...
Then again, I have little faith in our scholars...
Look at the boo boo on loan curbs by MAS & forgotten about hire purchase act by MOF...

until the land is reclaimed, the park will remain as it is unless announced otherwise. we or our MND minister may not be alive to witness all these planned developments by 2050
