Default Downtown Line 3 Station Locations Unveiled

LTA has released the information on MRT station locations along DTL3.

Good news for Eastern properties. To be fully operational by 2017.

Line is 42km long, stretching to areas such as near Flora Road condos and properties near Prisons too.

Check out the route alignment of DTL3:

The stations look very close to the existing EW line? I wonder if this will benefit that many people other than Tampines residents. But since the eastern part of Singapore is the most heavily populated, it may help ease the load on existing EW line. Appears to mainly run through the eastern industrial areas.

I don't think it will go to flora road or prisons area which is at Upper Changi Road North. The station is at Upper Changi Road East, near the new fourth university, next to Tropicana.

I think so too about the viability of ERL. I remember many Katong and Siglap friends/relatives constantly telling me that the area is great because of its easy accessibility to the city via ECP and Nicol. Even by bus, it is very fast. As such, ERL would appear to be a good to have. If there is a need to access MRT, a short feeder bus ride will get you to either a E-W or Circle line station.

Changi Stn is just south of Changi Court/Changi Green. Very short walk.
Flora road residents continue to miss out unfortunately.
Even the people at Tropica will not get to enjoy DTL 3 as the Tampines East station is beside SAFRA Tampines, at the X junction.
